Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Function of Cambodia, revealed on the morning of June 15 that the Cambodian Youth Federation will organize a special solidarity march on June 18 to back the government’s decisions regarding border disputes with Thailand.
The march, set to take place in Phnom Penh, aims to demonstrate national unity and public support for Cambodia’s stance on territorial issues. “This event will showcase the collective will of Cambodian youth to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said a spokesperson for the Youth Federation.
The border dispute between Cambodia and Thailand, which has simmered for years over territorial claims in areas near the Preah Vihear Temple and other contested zones, has recently seen renewed tensions.
Cambodian authorities have emphasized that the march will be a peaceful demonstration, with security measures in place to ensure order. Tourist areas and major cities are expected to remain unaffected, as the event focuses on political solidarity rather than disrupting daily life.
Foreign visitors to Cambodia are advised to monitor local news for updates but need not alter travel plans unless specifically directed by authorities.
The initiative comes as part of a broader effort to rally public support for the government’s diplomatic and strategic approaches to border issues. “We hope this march will send a clear message to the international community about Cambodia’s commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful means while protecting its national interests,” Hun Many added.
