On June 15th, the official website of the New Zealand government announced that starting from November 2025, Chinese passport holders who enter New Zealand from Australia and hold valid Australian tourist, work, student or family visas will be eligible for visa – free entry into New Zealand, with a maximum stay of three months. This trial policy, which is expected to last for 12 months, aims to enhance New Zealand’s appeal as a tourist destination for Chinese visitors.
However, it should be noted that this does not apply to those who are merely transiting through Australia, and applicants are still required to meet the eligibility criteria for the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA).
This policy will simplify the travel process for Chinese tourists traveling from Australia to New Zealand, further promoting cultural and tourism exchanges among the three countries.
