The speedboat “The Tanis” was hit by huge waves during its voyage. As the waves crashed into the boat, water rushed in rapidly, causing the hull to sink.
There were 89 passengers on board, among whom 77 were foreigners. A Chinese passenger who experienced the accident recalled that it was “terrifying”. He used a safety hammer to break the boat window, helped several people escape through the window first, and then put on a life jacket to save himself. Inside the boat, passengers smashed the windows in a hurry to get out. After the accident, luggage was constantly washed ashore, and the staff of the speedboat retrieved the fallen items.
Fortunately, the boat was close to the shore, which allowed the rescue operation to start quickly. By 6:30 pm that day, all passengers were rescued safely, and no one was seriously injured. It’s reported that the speedboat had only been in operation for three months, and currently, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety during travel, especially in sea – related activities. Travelers should always be vigilant and ensure they are familiar with safety procedures when on a boat.
